The Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, characterized by its rapid pace and responsiveness to consumer preferences, encompasses everyday essentials like food, beverages, personal care items, and household goods, known for their affordability. In recent times, the industry has experienced substantial growth attributed to shifting shopping behaviors, advancements in technology, and an increased focus on environmental sustainability. Propelled by evolving consumer trends and innovative technologies, the FMCG industry has seen remarkable expansion.
Constituting almost half of FMCG sales, household goods and personal care items have strengthened the industry’s standing as the fourth-largest revenue contributor in the country. The rural segment, making up 45 percent of FMCG sales, has been the primary focus of rapid growth, whereas the urban sector contributes 55 percent of sales.
